We'll depart for El Tepozteco National Park, take local transportation to San Juan Tlacotenco, and then begin the hike to Tepoztlán. We'll climb Cerro de la Luz, descend through canyons and crevasses to observe the pyramidal base of Tepozteco, and complete the route with a descent of 856 meters. We'll conclude with lunch at local restaurants.
Requires good physical condition. You'll learn about mountaineering culture, hiking techniques, and best practices in the mountain environment.

This beautiful natural park is one of the oldest in the country, decreed as such in 1898 by the then President of Mexico, General Porfirio Díaz. The park covers 2,739 hectares, populated by dense forests of pine, oak, and fir trees, as well as countless rock formations of great beauty.

Its name comes from the old textile factories that generated electricity from water.

In the valleys surrounding these mountains, indigenous people domesticated plants such as corn, squash, beans, chili peppers, and amaranth, foods that continue to form the basis of the local diet today.
This 40,000-hectare park, located in the states of Mexico, Puebla, and Morelos, is part of the Sierra Nevada and is one of the oldest protected areas in Mexico.

Located in Tlalpan, it is one of the largest extinct volcanoes in the Valley of Mexico.
This medium-sized monogenetic shield volcano is an important testament to the region's volcanic activity. Its eruption contributed to the formation of the Sierra de Chichinautzin, a mountain range that spans several municipalities and is known for its ecological diversity. The area around El Pelado Volcano offers hiking trails with panoramic views and a rich flora and fauna. It is an ideal place for mountaineering enthusiasts and those looking to explore the region's geological and natural history.

Naucampatepetl
Because of the rectangular silhouette of its summit, it was once called Naucampatepetl, the hill that has four sides.
Nappatecuhtli, Lord of the Four Directions, is also suggested as an invocation of Tlaloc. Likewise, Naupatecutepetl, Four-Times Lord. For others, it is Tepetlacali, like the pot that protects treasures.

The Telapón from the Nahuatl Tetlapan, in the river of stones, is a volcano located in the Neovolcanic Axis of Mexico , specifically in the municipality of Ixtapaluca , in the State of Mexico .
With an official altitude of 4,080 meters above sea level, it is one of the highest peaks in the central plateau.

The HAWC Gamma Ray Observatory is a laboratory dedicated to observing the universe at the highest energies, between 100 GeV and 100 TeV. It operates continuously, and thanks to its wide field of view, the observatory can view two-thirds of the sky during each 24-hour cycle.
We climbed the Devil's Ridge until we reached the sandbanks located at the end of the route, from where we found the millimeter telescope.

Canoes to Tliltepetl
A continuous ascent along a route first lined with crops, then through a pine forest, zacatonales or alpine pasture, and finally a large slope of loose rocks, a place for few mountaineers since rockfall is very common. At the end of this pass lies the large millimeter telescope.

This plain is located north of the Diego Mateo Ecotourism Center. This plain offers one of the easiest access points to the natural viewpoints of El Chico National Park, allowing visitors to easily enjoy spectacular panoramic views. It is an ideal spot for those looking to explore the park and experience its natural beauty without the hassle.
