Ajusco

Trip Description 1: Ajusco in the Morning

We begin our uphill hike at 8:00 a.m., traversing a spectacular landscape. Our certified guides will provide insights into the nature of this unique location. As we walk, you will breathe in the fresh air and admire the breathtaking views of Mexico City.

This hike requires physical effort, as the ridges have a significant incline—perfect for training before tackling more demanding mountains. To reach the summit, we depart from the Alpine Shelter at an altitude of 3,289 metres above sea level, passing through the crater and continuing along the ridge known as El Espinazo del Diablo (The Devil’s Spine). We will ascend to one of its two peaks, Pico del Águila, which stands at 3,912 metres above sea level. The hike lasts approximately 5 to 6 hours, and at the end of the journey, we may stop at a local restaurant.

Trip Description 2: Sunrise Hike

We meet at Refugio en el Ajusco at 7:00 p.m., a space where you can leave your vehicle, rest in a comfortable cabin, and enjoy breakfast the following morning. This is a two-day adventure, with our ascent beginning between 3:00 and 4:00 a.m., depending on the season and sunrise time.

This is a night-time hike, and we provide you with a headlamp, helmet, and trekking poles so you can experience the journey like a true professional. Our goal is to reach the summit before sunrise, allowing you to witness the stunning colours that can only be seen from the mountains.

At the end of the hike, we return to Refugio en el Ajusco for breakfast.
