Difficulty Levels in Mountain Environments

N1.gif
  • Walk of less than 4 hours on a path, track or marked trail.

  • Accessible to most people without health problems and in good physical condition.

  • Around 4 to 9 kilometers.

  • Between altitudes of 0 m to 3800 meters above sea level.

  • Reduced positive gradients of no more than 100 metres.

  • A 6- to 9-hour hike on a path, marked trail, or unmarked trail with uneven terrain.

  • From 700 to 1400 meters maximum positive elevation gain and/or 12 to 20 kilometers.

  • Possibility of high altitude passes, between 3500 and 5100 meters above sea level.

  • A 4- to 6-hour hike on a path, track, trail, or mountain route.

  • Sloping hills with a gradient of 100 to 600 meters.

  • Slopes between 10 and 25 degrees of inclination.

  • Around 8 to 13 kilometers.

  • Between altitudes of 0 m to 4000 meters above sea level.

  • A hike lasting more than 7 to 14 hours on a path, marked or unmarked trail, or on rough terrain.

  • With more than 1000 meters of positive elevation gain and/or 15 to 22 kilometers.
